Developer Note

The purpose of these dev updates is to share systems currently in development and to give insight into the early stages of design as the project evolves. What you're seeing right now are the foundations and skeletons of systems, nowhere near their final versions.

Things like names, values, stats, and organisation are often placeholders or early iterations. My current focus is building the core structure and functionality of systems first. Refinement, balancing, and polish come later in development.

Because of this, please keep in mind that everything shown in dev updates is subject to change. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome, but constructive feedback with reasoning is far more helpful than simple reactions.

Welcome back, Guardians. This is a smaller one, but with huge announcements - two releases today alongside the usual update. A few hours before this post went live, the Destinations Teaser Trailer I dropped on YouTube. And with this update, the very first official Destiny Playground soundtrack is out: Loose Variable. Both deserve their own section, and we'll get to them shortly.

Beyond the releases, there's been a solid week of building progress - the Tower has been getting a long-overdue rebuild, the city is coming together, and new custom assets have arrived. Plus two new team additions to share. Let's get into it.

Destinations Teaser Trailer I

Earlier today, the first official teaser trailer for Destiny Playground went live. The Destinations Teaser gives you a first proper look at the worlds you'll be exploring at launch - the environments, the scale, the atmosphere. Everything we've been building towards, finally visible.

All the attention we can draw to the project at this stage genuinely helps. If you haven't already, go watch it, share it, and leave a comment. Every view and every conversation around it helps the project reach people who don't know it exists yet.

Loose Variable - First Official Soundtrack

Releasing today alongside this update: Loose Variable, the first track in Destiny Playground's original soundtrack. Composed by Emi, this is the beginning of something we've wanted to do since the project started - original music written specifically for this world.

This is the first of several tracks dropping over the coming weeks. Here's the current soundtrack schedule:

Building Progress - The Tower

The Tower is one of the most iconic locations in Destiny - and ours was built about ten years ago, so it was very much due a proper revisit. This week's building work has been focused on updating blocks, refactoring sections to be more accurate, and making use of tools and techniques that simply didn't exist when the original build was made.

The Courtyard is now mostly updated, and work is moving towards Tower North. On top of that, the world has been tidied up significantly - the Tower is now properly connected to the city, and the city itself has had a thorough pass.

The City and Hall of Guardians

Down in the city, block improvement work has been ongoing, and the Tower is now properly connected to the surrounding Last City. Work has also begun on The Hall of Guardians - the primary hub building in the Guardian District of the city. This is where your Guardian triumphs and accomplishments will be displayed, where legends will be celebrated, and more. Early days yet, but the foundation is in place.

Custom Assets - Banners

New custom assets are being produced, starting with in-world banners. Two have been completed so far, with many more planned. Here are the first two: the Guardian Banner and the Vanguard Banner.

Weapons Progress

On the systems side, we now officially have one fully working weapon with random rolls and everything in place. That's the foundation the weapon arsenal needs - with it solid, work can begin expanding to other weapon types and perks. More on weapons in a dedicated update when there's more to show.

New Team Additions

Two new contractors have joined the team this week - noni and Johulk. They've been working to bring a client-side mod to life for the server, alongside some custom plugin work.

Community and Stats

To round things off - a genuine thank you to everyone following this project. The recent influx of people has been incredible to see, especially given that a Beta or Launch is still a long way off and development is in an early phase. The fact that so many of you are following along this early means more than I can properly express.
